This can lead to frustration, ineffective or imitative ministry models, withering creativity, and, ultimately, burnout. The average tenure of a full-time worship leader in the Evangelical church is just over 3 years, and churches are spending millions of dollars on leadership attrition every year. This problem is killing the church and devastating its leaders. As we emerge into a post-pandemic and post-Christian world, the local church is uniquely positioned to help our communities heal after the pain of the last several years. The worship arts will play a critical role in that healing. However, if her leaders are too exhausted to handle the challenge, we will continue to see the decline in church involvement that has been the trend over the last decade or more.
